Bison Women Top Summit League with 5 Named to Academic All-League Team

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team claimed five of the 15 spots on The Summit League's Academic All-League team announced Wednesday for the 2020 indoor season.
 
Bison seniors Shelby Gunnells and Paige Harris, and juniors Kelby Anderson, Alyssa Lind and Amy Herrington all earned the honor by virtue of their athletic and academic achievements.
 
Gunnells (Solon, Iowa) has a 4.0 cumulative GPA as a geology major. She was named the 2020 Summit League Championships Field MVP, winning the conference title in the shot put and taking third place in the weight throw. Gunnells was an NCAA Indoor Championships qualifier in the shout put, ranked eighth in the NCAA.
 
Harris (Plentywood, Mont.) ran on NDSU's Summit League champion 4x400m relay, as well as placing fourth in the 400m dash at the conference meet. She owns a 4.0 GPA as a biological sciences major.
 
Anderson (Bismarck, N.D.) is a nursing major with a 3.83 cumulative GPA. She swept the Summit League titles in the mile, 3000m and 5000m, scoring 30 points at the Summit League Championships to earn Most Outstanding Performer honors.
 
Lind (Bloomington, Minn.) anchored the Bison to a Summit League title in the 4x400m relay and earned a runner-up finish in the 400m dash, owning the second-fastest 400m time in the Summit League for the indoor season. She is a human development and family science major with a 3.95 GPA.
 
Herrington (Henley-on-Thames, England) owns a 3.84 cumulative GPA as an exercise science major. She was the Summit League runner-up in the weight throw, and ranked 45th in the NCAA in the event for the season.
 
To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.00 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The award is voted on by the institutions' faculty athletic representatives and sports information directors.
