NDSU Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision Against South Dakota State

FARGO, N.D.  –  Ali Hinze and Raegen Reilly each registered a double-double as North Dakota State dropped a 3-1 decision to South Dakota State on Thursday night at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

Hinze logged her 14th double-double of the season with a team-high 15 kills to go along with 10 digs. She also added seven total blocks, three assists and one service ace to her stat line. Reilly posted her third straight double-double and eighth of the season with a match-high 35 assists and 11 digs. Michelle Glover also hit double figures in kills with 10 to go along with seven total blocks, while Taylor Quan tallied a team-high 17 digs.

The Bison (12-17, 6-11 Summit) opened the contest building an 11-5 lead, before the Jackrabbits (17-11, 9-8 Summit) raced back to lock the frame, 22-22. SDSU then closed the set on a 4-2 run to secure the win, 26-24. Hinze paced the Bison in the set with five kills and five digs.

NDSU once again got off to fast start in the second frame with a 17-10 edge after back-to-back kills from Hinze. The Bison held off the Jackrabbits the rest of the way to win the second set, 25-21. NDSU notched a .209 hitting percentage in the frame.
SDSU came out of the break and opened up an 11-6 advantage following a service ace from Anna Nerad. NDSU pushed back cutting the deficit down to one, 13-12, following a kill from Hinze. However, the Bison couldn't cut the lead down any further and dropped the set, 25-19.

The Jackrabbits carried the momentum over into the fourth set building a 9-2 advantage early. NDSU made a late surge rattling off six straight points including three straight from Hinze to pull within five, 24-19, but SDSU captured the final point to secure the set, 25-19, and the match, 3-1.

NDSU will be in action on Saturday hosting South Dakota (17-9, 14-3 Summit) on Senior Day. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
