NDSU Prepared for Road Test at South Dakota State and South Dakota

THIS WEEK
North Dakota State (5-6, 1-0 Summit) continues Summit League play at South Dakota State (6-7, 2-0 Summit) on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. The Bison will wrap the road swing at South Dakota (9-4, 2-0 Summit) on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.

Radio: The contest at South Dakota State will be available on the The City 94.5 FM, while the game at South Dakota will be available on Bison 1660. Keith Brake will be on the call for both.
 
Watch: The contest at South Dakota State on Thursday will be available on Midco Sports Two, while the game at South Dakota will be available on Midco Sports with Jay Elsen (play-by-play) and Al Bahe (analyst) on the call. Both games will also be available on ESPN+ for subscribers.

LAST TIME OUT
Three Bison hit double figures in scoring as North Dakota State picked up a 67-61 win over North Dakota to open Summit League play at Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
 
Heaven Hamling led the way for the Bison notching her seventh straight double-digit scoring performance with a team-high 17 points. She also added six rebounds, four assists and two steals to her stat line. Ryan Cobbins chipped in 15 points, while Kadie Deaton rounded out the top performers with 12 points.
 
FACING COLLEGEINSIDER.COM TOP 25 OPPONENTS
The contest against South Dakota will be the first time this season NDSU has faced a ranked opponent in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Last season, NDSU upended then-ranked No. 10 Green Bay in back-to-back games. It marked the first win over a team in the poll since 2017.
 
HAMLING AGAINST SOUTH DAKOTA
Heaven Hamling netted a career-high 30 points on 8-of-12 shooting from three point range against South Dakota last season on Feb. 27, 2021. She also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds and passed out three assists.
 
HAMLING IS ROLLING
Heaven Hamling has registered double figures in scoring in each of her last seven games, which is the longest double figure scoring streak of her career. Over that span, she is averaging 15.1 points per game and is shooting 51.9 percent (40-77) from the field and 44.4 percent (16-36) from three. 
 
COBBINS CONTRIBUTES ON BOTH ENDS
Ryan Cobbins has started all 11 games this season and has reached double digits in scoring nine times. She is averaging a career-best 12.7 points per game and is shooting 43.9 percent (50-114) from the field. Cobbins is also contributing on defensive end of the floor hauling in a team-high 64 total rebounds (5.8 rbg). 
 
DIETZ IS MAKING HISTORY
Emily Dietz is continuing to climb up the ranks on the NDSU all-time points and rebounds list. She is currently one rebound away from 600 and ranks 20th in NDSU history with 599. Dietz is also 24 points away from 1,000 and is positioned 35th in Bison history with 976.
 
SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
South Dakota State enters the week having won its last three games and most recently rolled past Oral Roberts, 71-51. Paige Mayer just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine assists to pace the Jackrabbits. SDSU is currently receiving votes in the CollegeInsider.com Top 25 poll and is 3-2 at home this season.
 
THE SERIES VS. SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
SDSU has won the last 15 meetings and leads the all-time series, 56-36. In the most recent meeting last season,  the then-ranked No. 23/24 Jackrabbits pulled away late in the fourth quarter to edge the Bison, 69-60, at Scheels Center. Ryan Cobbins led NDSU with 16 points and six rebounds, while Emily Dietz added in 10 points with seven rebounds.
 
SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA
South Dakota, who begins the week ranked No. 16 in the CollegeInsider.com Top 25 poll, has won its last seven games and most recently topped Kansas City, 67-57, behind a game-high 20 points from Liv Korngable. The Coyotes' seven game win streak is longest active winning streak in the Summit League and also boast a 4-1 record at home.
 
THE SERIES VS. SOUTH DAKOTA
South Dakota has won the last 11 meetings in the series. However, NDSU leads the all-time series, 42-36, that dates back to 1977. Last season, NDSU came up short against South Dakota State, 81-55, in the Summit League Semifinals. Reneya Hopkins led the Bison with 13 points and Kadie Deaton poured in 10 of her own.

NDSU returns to Scheels Center on Thursday, Jan. 6 hosting Denver (5-8, 0-2 Summit). Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
