FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State freshman Ali Hinze recorded the first 20 kills-20 digs match by a Bison since 2010 on Saturday, but Omaha prevailed 3-2 in a five-set battle with the NDSU volleyball team.
For the second night in a row, Omaha won the first, fourth and fifth sets, while the Bison claimed the second and third. Set scores were 25-16, 24-26, 22-25, 25-22, and 15-5.
Hinze (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) finished with 22 kills and 23 digs to lead NDSU in both categories. It was the first 20-20 performance by a Bison since Brynn Joki pulled the feat on Oct. 15, 2010.
Senior Alexis Bachmeier also posted a double-double for NDSU, registering 10 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore setter Kelley Johnson recorded a career-best four aces for the Bison, and freshman libero Taylor Quan had 13 digs.

The Mavericks improved to 11-5 overall and 10-4 in Summit League play. The Bison fell to 8-6 overall and 6-6 in conference, with Friday's and Saturday's losses to Omaha being the only two home defeats of the season.
NDSU travels to Denver next weekend to play the Pioneers on Friday, Mar. 19, and Saturday, Mar. 20.
