Bison Volleyball Closes 2020-21 Season at UND Friday, Saturday

This Week:
The North Dakota State volleyball team (8-8 overall, 6-8 Summit) will wrap up the 2020-21 spring season with two road matches at North Dakota (2-14 overall, 2-12 Summit) on Friday, Mar. 26, and Saturday, Mar. 27. Both matches are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

The Series vs. North Dakota: The Bison lead the all-time volleyball series with UND, 82-19. NDSU has won four straight over the Fighting Hawks, including both matches last season (2019) and two non-conference matches to open this season on Jan. 22-23 in Fargo.
 
Young Guns: NDSU freshman Ali Hinze is the top freshman in The Summit League with 3.74 kills per set this season. Syra Tanchin is the No. 2 sophomore in the league with 2.79 kills per set.
 
Syra Steps Up: NDSU sophomore outside hitter Syra Tanchin racked up 15 kills with a career-best .429 hitting percentage on Mar. 20 at Denver.
 
20-20: Freshman Ali Hinze finished with 22 kills and 23 digs to lead NDSU in both categories vs. Omaha on Mar. 13. It was the first 20-20 performance by a Bison since Brynn Joki pulled the feat on Oct. 15, 2010.
 
Going Five: The Bison are 2-3 in five-set matches this season.
 
Home Sweet Home: The Bison finished 8-2 at home this season, with set scores totaling 28-11.
 
A Cool Grand: Sophomore setter Kelley Johnson surpassed 1,000 career assists on Mar. 6 vs. Western Illinois. She is averaging 10.12 assists per set this season.
 
Point, Ali: Freshman Ali Hinze ranks fourth in The Summit League with an average of 4.24 points per set in conference play.
 
Great Service: Sophomore setter Kelley Johnson recorded a career-best four aces against Omaha on Mar. 13. She has racked up 19 aces already this season, surpassing her total of 12 from her freshman season in 2019.
 
Lockdown Defense: The Bison limited Western Illinois to .051 hitting on Mar. 6, which was the lowest percentage for a Bison opponent since NDSU held Savannah State to .014 in a 3-0 sweep on Sept. 16, 2017.
 
Quan's Defense: Freshman libero Taylor Quan posted a season-high 28 digs at South Dakota on Feb. 21. She has recorded 15+ digs in a match seven times this year.
