Bison Hold Off Kansas City 69-65 in Summit League Tournament Quarterfinals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 3-seeded North Dakota State men's basketball team led by as many as 22 points in the second half, and held on for a 69-65 victory over No. 6 seed Kansas City in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament.
The Bison advance to play No. 2 seed South Dakota in the second semifinal Monday night at 8:45 p.m.
Senior Rocky Kreuser led NDSU in scoring with 16 points and filled the stat sheet with six rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Jarius Cook and Tyree Eady both added 15 points for the Bison, and Eady led the team with nine rebounds and four assists.
NDSU made 6-of-15 (40 percent) from three-point range and limited the Roos to 3-of-16 (19 percent) from downtown. The Bison finished with a 39-31 rebounding advantage.
NDSU held a 38-22 margin at halftime and led 52-30 with just over 14 minutes remaining in the game. Kansas City battled back to pull within two at 67-65 in the final minute, but Kreuser blocked a driving layup attempt with two seconds on the clock. Eady made two free throws to seal the victory.
This will be the fourth consecutive trip to the semifinals of the Summit League Tournament for the Bison, who have won the last two tournament titles.
