COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The North Dakota State women's track & field team wrapped up competition at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds on Saturday, and the Bison will ultimately send five qualifiers on to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Three Bison women – who all rank among the four best in school history – competed in the discus Saturday. Freshman
Michaela Hawkins led the trio, placing 21st with a throw of 172-2 (52.48m). Junior
Amanda Anderson took 27th at 165-10 (50.56m), and senior
Maddy Nilles finished 35th at 160-6 (48.92m).

Nilles had previously advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw.

A pair of Bison jumpers made their NCAA West Prelims debuts, with
Jodi Lipp placing 29th in the triple jump and
Daejha Moss tying for 30th in the high jump. Lipp posted a mark of 41-03.75 (12.59m) in the triple, and Moss cleared 5-07.75 (1.72m).

Jennie Baragar-Petrash ran the 5,000m, but did not finish.

In all, the Bison women earned five berths to the NCAA Championships at Oregon on June 9-12 – all in the throwing events.
Akealy Moton qualified in the javelin and shot put, and she was joined by Nilles in the hammer throw,
Kari Wolfe in the javelin, and
Shelby Gunnells in the shot put.
