FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State pitcher
Cade Feeney was named to the
D1Baseball.com Freshman All-America second team announced Monday, July 12. Feeney was one of 10 true freshman starting pitchers honored between the first and second teams.
A right-hander from Bismarck, N.D., Feeney went 8-1 in 13 starts and earned All-Summit League first team honors. His eight victories are tied for the second-most in school history and the most by a freshman at NDSU. He is one of four true freshman starters in the country to tally eight or more wins this season.
Feeney tossed a complete-game shutout against Western Illinois in the April 9 home opener. He twice struck out seven batters in a game, while finishing the season with 56 strikeouts in 69.2 innings pitched. Feeney had a 3.23 ERA, allowing 25 runs on 64 hits.
The D1Baseball Freshman All-America Team was compiled by D1Baseball editors and only considered true freshmen who did not compete in the 2020 season that was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Feeney previously was named to Collegiate Baseball's Freshman All-America Team. He was the third player in Bison history to be named to that Freshman All-America Team joining left-handed pitcher
Max Loven in 2019 and catcher Justin Kline in 2009.
