ST. PAUL, Minn. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team couldn't complete the comeback at St. Thomas coming up short, 73-62, on Thursday night at Schoenecker Arena.
Olivia Skibiel paced the Bison (6-10, 2-4 Summit) with a season-high 15 points and season-best seven rebounds.
Heaven Hamling poured in 16 points on 3-of-8 shooting from three. She also added six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal to her stat line over 40 minutes of action.
Abby Schulte notched a season-high 11 points, while
Emily Dietz added in 12 points.
After trailing following the first three quarters, 54-43, NDSU battled all the way back to lock the contest, 56-56, following a three pointer from
Ryan Cobbins with 5:08 to play. The Tommies (6-8, 3-1 Summit) then responded with a momentum swinging 7-1 run to push their lead back up to 63-57 with 2:03 remaining. NDSU wasn't able to cut the deficit down any further and went on to drop contest, 73-62.
NDSU is back in action at Western Illinois (11-3, 2-1 Summit) on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
