1/26/2022 1:41:00 PM

The North Dakota State University track & field teams will send athletes to compete at two meets this weekend. A majority of the Bison will compete at the UND Open in Grand Forks, N.D., while the NDSU throws crew will head to Minneapolis for Minnesota's Jack Johnson Classic on Saturday.

Several Bison multi-event athletes will compete in the pentathlon and heptathlon at UND starting at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The rest of the meet will be contested on Saturday inside the UND Frederick "Fritz" D. Pollard Jr. Athletic Center, beginning with field events at noon. The 5000m will run at 1 p.m., with the rest of the track events starting at 2 p.m.

The Bison throwers will take part in the Jack Johnson Classic at the University of Minnesota, where the men's weight throw will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the women to follow. The shot put is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.

NDSU athletes own seven performances that rank among the Top 50 on the NCAA performance lists this season, led by senior Trevor Otterdahl at No. 7 in the weight throw and senior Kristoffer Thomsen at No. 11 in the shot put. Bison junior Jacob Rodin now stands 12th in the nation in the 800m after his record-breaking performance last Saturday, and Rodin also ranks 17th nationally in the 600m.

Two Bison women are nationally ranked in the weight throw – Amy Phillips at No. 19 and Amanda Anderson at No. 42.

NDSU will return home to host the Bison Open on Feb. 4-5.
