TULSA, Okla. –
Ali Hinze totaled a match-high 14 kills to lead the North Dakota State volleyball team past Oral Roberts, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Cooper Aerobics Center.
With the win, the Bison extend their win streak to four matches and improve to 17-7 (10-2 Summit) on the season. It marks the first time since 2016 that the Bison have reached the 10-win plateau in Summit League play. With the loss, Oral Roberts drops to 7-17 (4-8 Summit) on the season.
Hinze notched a double-double with a match-high 14 kills and 15 digs.
Kelley Johnson also contributed a double-double with a match-best 38 assists and 12 digs.
Syra Tanchin added in 11 kills, while
Michelle Glover registered a .556 hitting percentage with 11 kills of her own.
Both teams traded points in the first set until Johnson connected on three straight aces to put the Bison in front, 10-7, and force a Golden Eagle timeout. NDSU then increased its lead up to six, 18-12, following an attack error. The Bison closed out the frame, 25-20. Hinze led all players with six kills in the set.
NDSU quickly doubled up Oral Roberts in the second stanza, 8-4, after back-to-back kills from Glover. The Bison then stretched their lead up to nine, 19-10, following a kill from Johnson. NDSU went on to close out the set, 25-17.
The Bison built an early 11-6 advantage in the third set after a kill from Hinze to force an Oral Roberts timeout. NDSU then assembled a 4-0 run powered by two kills from Tanchin to make the score 19-11. The Bison went on to win the set, 25-17, and the match, 3-0.
NDSU will return home against South Dakota State on Tuesday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
