IRVING, Texas – North Dakota State wrestling placed 11 student-athletes on the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling Team, announced the conference office Thursday afternoon.
Ten of the 11 student-athletes earned First Team selections, including Dylan Drogemueller and
Jared Franek, who headlined the list of nine total Big 12 student-athletes to register a 4.0 grade point average. Franek and Droegemueller are both three-time honorees for NDSU, along with
Austin Brenner, who also received first team honors.
Brandon Metz, who is a four-time honoree, joins the group on the first team along with two-time honorees;
Austin Braun,
Riley Habisch,
Michael Nelson,
Luke Weber and
Michael Weber.

Gaven Sax is one of two Bison to earn the honor for the first time and he wraps up the list of first team selections.
Ryan Henningson is also a first-time honoree and was named to the second team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
