ABILENE, Texas – The North Dakota State baseball team picked up its third straight win after edging Abilene Christian, 10-7, in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field.
After both teams found themselves deadlocked, 4-4, following the first two frames, the Bison came alive with a three-run third inning to open up a 7-4 edge. The Wildcats answered back one inning later after Grayson Tatrow launched a three RBI home run down the left field line to lock the contest, 7-7.
Following a scoreless fifth inning, the Bison regained the edge after
Druw Sackett delivered a single into center field to make the score 8-7. NDSU then added two more runs in the eighth and ninth innings as
Logan Williams and
Cadyn Schwabe scored on wild pitches. The Wildcats made one final surge in the bottom half of the ninth loading up the bases, but
Jake Drew closed out the frame on the hill and notched one strikeout to help secure the 10-7 win.
The Bison registered 10 total hits with Anderson leading the way with a team-high three.
Terrell Huggins posted a team-best two RBI, while Schwabe tallied a game-best three runs.
NDSU used five pitchers in the contest with
Shea Zetterman (1-0) earning his first career win with one strikeout over 1.2 innings.
Joey Danielson also tossed a team-high four strikeouts over 3.1 innings.
NDSU will return to action at Dixie State on Friday, Feb. 25. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CT.
