Bison Fall to Kansas City in Summit League Tournament Quarterfinals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The sixth-seeded North Dakota State women's basketball team came up short against third-seeded Kansas City, 81-74, on Sunday afternoon at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

Abby Schulte paced the Bison (11-18) with a team-best and career-high 21 points. She shot 6-of-11 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Heaven Hamling contributed 16 points with a career-best seven assists and team-high eight rebounds. Emily Dietz also hit double digits in scoring with 14 points and five rebounds.

NDSU shot 43.5 percent (27-62) from the field and 41.2 percent (7-17) from three. The Bison also shot 52.0 percent (13-25) from the free throw line.

After the Bison opened up a 42-28 lead at the intermission, the Roos (23-7) stormed back in the third outscoring the Bison, 26-15, in the frame to cut the deficit to three, 57-54, after three quarters of play. The Roos continued to surge into the fourth quarter grabbing the lead, 75-72, after Naomie Alnatas drained a triple with 21 seconds to play. Kansas City then closed out the remaining time connecting on six free throws to seal the 81-74 win.
