FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State women's basketball head coach
Jory Collins has announced three more additions for the 2022 class.
The Bison have added Taylor Brown from American, Kristina Ekofo Yomane from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and Abbie Draper from Bradley.
Brown played in 94 games over four seasons at American. The Lakeville, Minn., native started all 31 games last season and averaged 10.3 points with 4.3 rebounds per contest. The 6-1 forward reached double digits in scoring in 17 games, including a season-high 20 points against Navy on Jan. 29. Brown, who was a 2021-22 All-Patriot League Third Team selection, helped American to a 23-9 overall record last season and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
"Taylor is a winner," said Collins. "She helped lead her team to the NCAA tournament last year. She had tremendous growth in her four years at American. She got better each season she was there. When you watch Taylor play what stands out is her feel for the game. She will fit in very well with our style of play and should be a big factor for us. Her experience is a big plus and we're thrilled she is using her last season of eligibility to play with the Bison."
Ekofo played in 26 games and made 25 starts at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College last season. The Brussels, Belgium native averaged 13.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. She reached double digits in scoring in 20 games and notched six double-doubles. The 6-2 forward was also selected to the NJCAA Region II Second Team last season and played on the u16 and u18 Belgian national team.
"We are so excited to add Kristina to our team," said Collins. "She has good size and physicality, two attributes we needed to add. But what we really like with Kristina is her skillset at that size. She can score inside and out, is a very capable three-point shooter, good passer, and just an all-around good player. She's experienced with her national team in Belgium and her two years of high-level junior college. We're also excited she has three years of eligibility."
Draper played in 26 games with 15 starts at Bradley last season. The Waverly, Iowa native averaged 7.1 points in Missouri Valley games, which ranked fifth among freshman. She posted five double digit scoring performances, including a season-high 14 points against Evansville on Feb. 6. The 6-2 forward also hauled in 96 rebounds to go along with 18 blocks and 11 steals. Draper went on to earn a spot on the 2022 MVC All-Freshman Team.
"Abbie fits a huge need for us. She is a very versatile stretch four or big three guard player that can make plays all over the court. She has very good length that will play on both ends. Abbie's strengths as a player fit our style of play very well. She was one of the best freshmen in the Missouri Valley and just got better as her season went along. We're very excited she has three years to play with us!"
The trio joins Elle Evans, Marwa Bedziri and Abby Graham in the 2022 signing class.
