FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team swept Montana State, 3-0, at the NDSU Tournament at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse on Saturday morning.
Kelley Johnson handed out a match-best 33 assists with 11 digs and five kills.
Michelle Glover added 11 kills with a match-best five blocks, while
Ali Hinze recorded a match-high 16 digs with a match-best 12 kills.
NDSU (6-3) started fast in the opening set sprinting out to a 6-0 lead following a kill from
Syra Tanchin. The Bison, who never trailed in the frame, pushed their lead up seven, 21-14, after two attack errors. NDSU went on to win set, 25-17.
The Bison began the second stanza doubling up the Bobcats (3-6), 10-5, following a kill from
Alexis Boling. Montana State pushed back to steal the lead, 19-16, after a kill from Jourdain Klein. NDSU responded with six unanswered points to regain the edge, 22-19, following a kill from
Ali Hinze.
After both teams exchanged points to lock the third frame, 15-15, the Bison assembled a 4-0 run to grab a 19-15 advantage following a kill from
Morgan Middleton. Montana State made one final surge trimming the deficit down to one, 22-21, before NDSU closed the frame with three straight points capped off by a service ace from Hinze to win the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-0.
The Bison will be back in action at the Austin Peay Invitational against Austin Peay on Friday. First serve is set for noon in Clarksville, Tenn.
