NDSU Volleyball Suffers Setback Against East Tennessee State

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The North Dakota State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision against East Tennessee State at the Stacheville Challenge on Saturday afternoon at the Winfield Dunn Center.
Syra Tanchin led the way for the Bison (7-5) with a team-high 10 kills, while Michelle Glover added eight kills with a .538 hitting percentage. Kelley Johnson handed out a team-best 21 assists and Logan O'Brien totaled a match-best 16 digs.
East Tennessee State (6-6) raced out to an early 11-4 edge in the opening set to force an NDSU timeout. The Bison pushed back cutting the deficit down to one, 15-14, following an attack error. The Buccaneers responded to push their lead up to six, 22-16. ETSU went on to win the frame, 25-20.
The Bison fought back in the second set that featured nine ties and six lead changes. Ali Hinze locked the set, 15-15, with her first solo block of the day. The Bucs answered to regain the edge, 22-18, after a kill from Brianna Cantrell. ETSU held off the NDSU the rest of the way to win the set, 25-22.
NDSU quickly opened up a 7-3 advantage in the third frame following kills from Allison Scheiwiller and Hinze. The Buccaneers responded with a momentum-shifting 10-3 run to steal the lead, 13-10. The Bison couldn't get anything going the rest of way and lost the set, 25-18, and the match, 3-0.
NDSU will open Summit League play at St. Thomas on Thursday. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
