PEORIA, Ill. – The North Dakota State men's cross country team earned an impressive seventh-place finish out of 30 Division I schools at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon in Peoria.
The Bison men finished with 181 points in the team standings – an improvement to their score of 204 last season at Bradley, and only 27 points out of third place in a tight team race on Friday.
NDSU was led by the veteran trio of
Payton Smith (24:45.2) in 21st place,
Jake Arason (24:50.0) in 23rd, and
Zach Johnson (24:52.3) in 27th.
Hunter Klimek finished 53rd in 25:09.6, and
Symon Keiser completed NDSU's team scoring with 59th place in 25:14.5.
Tyson Mahar was the No. 6 finisher for the Bison in 79th place with a time of 25:26.8.
IUPUI edged Illinois by a two-point margin for the team title, 118-120.
The Bison will race next at the Summit League Championships in Brookings, S.D., on Oct. 28.
