Johnson Named Setter of the Year; Four Bison Earn All-Summit League Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Kelley Johnson was named the Summit League Setter of the Year for the second straight season and four Bison received All-Summit League honors, the League office announced on Saturday.

Johnson became the first player in Bison history to win the Summit League Setter of the Year award in back-to-back seasons and earned a spot on the First Team for the second straight season. Ali Hinze also earned Fist Team recognition for the second consecutive season, while Arianna Blohm and Lauren Jansen were named to the All-League Freshman Team.

Johnson has handed out 1,059 total assists this season, which leads the Summit League and ranks 30th in the nation. In conference play, Johnson averaged a league-best 10.63 assists per set and passed out 638 total assists. The Eagan, Minn., native totaled 40 or more assists in eight matches in conference play and helped direct an offense that ranked second in the Summit League averaging 13.53 kills per set.

Hinze recorded double digits in kills in 24-of-27 matches in the regular season and logged a team-high 17 double-doubles. In league play, Hinze averaged a conference-high 3.68 kills per set and recorded 221 total kills. The Maple Grove, Minn., native notched a double-double in 12-of-16 Summit League matches.

Blohm led the Bison with a team-high 106.0 total blocks this season. In conference play, Blohm notched a team-best 60 total blocks, which ranked second among freshmen. On the offensive side, she notched a .284 hitting percentage and added in 103 total kills in conference play.

Jansen ranked third on the team with 175 total kills and hit double digits in seven matches. In league play, Jansen ranked 11th in the conference with 152 total kills. The Plainfield, Ill., native was one of only two freshmen in Summit League play to notch at least 150 kills, joining Amanda Hardt from Omaha.

NDSU will be back in action against South Dakota in the quarterfinal round of the Summit League Championship on Sunday. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m., at Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
