Harvard Outlasts NDSU Women’s Basketball at the San Diego Classic, 69-64

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The North Dakota State Women's basketball team dropped a 69-64 decision against Harvard at the San Diego Classic on Friday afternoon.
After trailing by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter, NDSU (2-3) fought its way back with a late 10-0 run to trim the deficit down to two, 66-44, after Grace Massaquoi knocked down a pair of free throws with 11 seconds to play. Harvard (4-2), who entered the week No. 22 in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, responded going 3-for-4 from the free throw line over the final six seconds to seal the 69-64 win.
Abbie Draper led way for the Bison reaching double figures in scoring for the second straight game with a team-high 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. She also hauled in six rebounds with one assist and one steal.
Heaven Hamling posted double digits with 14 points and team-best seven rebounds, while Elle Evans chipped in 12 points of her own with six rebounds, three assists and team-high three blocks.
As a team, NDSU shot 36.5 percent (23-63) from the field and 71.4 percent (15-21) from the free throw line with eight different players in the scoring column. The Bison netted 40 points in the paint and 22 second chance points. NDSU also grabbed 39 rebounds in comparison to Harvard's 28.
NDSU will be back in action tomorrow at the San Diego Classic against Toledo. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. CT at San Diego City College.
