SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team came up short against No. 23/22 Creighton, 75-52, on Monday night at the Sanford Pentagon.
Elle Evans led the way for NDSU (0-1) connecting on a game-best three triples on five attempts and finished with a team-high 10 points to go along with four rebounds and one block.
Marwa Bedziri, who was making her first career start, added six points with two rebounds. Kristinia Ekofo Yomane also contributed six points and hauled in four rebounds.
NDSU shot 32.7 percent (17-52) from the field and 66.7 percent (14-21) from the free throw line. The Bison bench also contributed 26 points with all 13 players on the roster checking into the contest.
Creighton (1-0) wasted no time opening up a 16-4 edge following the opening quarter after shooting 42.9 percent from the field in the frame. The Bluejays continued to ride momentum into the second quarter pushing their lead to 30-5 following a jumper from Kennedy Townsend at the 5:50 mark. Creighton led at the intermission, 36-18.
The Bluejays then opened the second half growing their largest lead of the game, 60-24, after McKayla Miller knocked down a pair of free throws with 2:12 to play in the quarter. NDSU couldn't trim the deficit any further over the final quarter and went on to drop the contest, 75-52.
NDSU will be back in action hosting Jamestown on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m., at Scheels Center.
