NDSU Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Jamestown, 112-59

FARGO, N.D. – Six different Bison reached double figures in scoring as the North Dakota State women's basketball team cruised past Jamestown, 112-59, on Thursday afternoon at Scheels Center.
Heaven Hamling led the way for NDSU (1-1) with a game-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 from beyond arc. She surpassed the 200-career three-point mark and has now totaled 202 in her NDSU career and ranks third on the all-time list. Elle Evans also filled her stat line with 14 points, career-high six assists, five rebounds, two steals and one block.
As a team, the Bison shot 46.1 percent (35-76) from the field with all 13 players on the roster reaching the scoring column. Abby Krzewinski (11), Grace Massaquoi (10), Taryn Hamling (10) and Leah Mackenzie (10) all hit double figures in scoring.
The Bison started fast opening up a double-digit lead in the first quarter, 15-5, after Heaven Hamling drilled a three-pointer at the 2:22 mark. NDSU carried the energy into the second quarter assembling eight straight points to increase its advantage 30-12 following a pair of free throws from Massaquoi with 6:26 to play in the half. NDSU led at the intermission, 48-25.
The Bison started the third quarter on a 9-3 run to make the score 57-27 after Heaven Hamling knocked down a three-pointer at the 7:54 mark. NDSU went on to close out the final two quarters shooting 55.9 percent from the field to secure the 112-59 win.
NDSU will be back in action at Minnesota on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
