ST. PAUL, Minn. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team outscored St. Thomas, 24-9, in the third quarter to pick up a key road win over the Tommies, 64-44, at Schoenecker Arena on Thursday night.
Elle Evans paced NDSU (17-10, 11-6 Summit) reaching double figures in scoring for the 11th straight game with a game-best 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.
Taylor Brown filled her stat line with 11 points, game-high eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Emily Behnke also hit double digits with 10 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists.
As a team, NDSU shot 45.6 percent (26-57) from the field, including a 62.5 percent (10-16) mark in the fourth quarter. The Bison also scored 42 points in the paint and 16 second chance points.
After trailing at the half, 18-17, the Bison assembled a 7-3 run to open up a 30-23 lead following a layup from
Kristina Ekofo Yomane at the 4:50 mark. NDSU closed the frame with six unanswered points to build a 41-27 advantage after three quarters. The Bison didn't look back from there building their largest lead of the night, 53-31, following a triple from
Heaven Hamling with 5:24 remaining. NDSU went on to close out the remaining time to earn the 64-44 win.
NDSU will wrap up regular season play at Western Illinois on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
