FOX CHAPEL, Pa. – North Dakota State men's golf's
Nate Adams led the way for the Bison and the tournament field on Monday in the first two rounds of the RedHawk Intercollegiate at the Pittsburgh Field Club. Adams holds a two-shot lead after rounds of 70 and 71 on the par-71 course, to sit as the only golfer under par at -1.
Adams led the way for the Bison, who sit in fifth overall as a team in the 14-team field at +22. The Bison were +12 in the first round with a team score of 296 and shot +10 in the second round with a 294.
In the first round, Adams had two of his three eagles on the day. His first came on the par-5 11
th hole to move to -1. Adams then had a birdie on the 12
th and followed it up with another eagle on the par-4 13
th to move to -4. After falling back to even, Adams closed out the first round with a birdie on his final hole.
In the second round, Adams would move under par with his second eagle on the 11
th hole of the day. Adams would fall back to even par for the tournament, but he birdied the final hole of the round for the second time on the day to restore a two-shot lead and finish the day as the only golfer under par.
Brock Winter and
Nate Deziel finished the day second for the Bison, tied for 30
th overall in the 78-golfer field at +7. Winter opened with a 77 and shot a 72 in his second round. Winter had one birdie in the first round and three in the second round. Deziel had two birdies and a 74 in round one before four more birdies and a 75 in round two.
Ian Simonich wrapped up the first-round scoring for the Bison with a 75. He shot a 79 in the second round and sits in a tie for 55
th overall at +12. After an 81 in the first round,
Gavin Cronkhite wrapped up the scoring for NDSU in the second round with a 76. Cronkhite sits in a tie for 65
th at +15.
The Bison will wrap up the RedHawk Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the Pittsburgh Field Club. NDSU is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. CT.
