TACOMA, Wash. – North Dakota State men's golf opened up the Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course on Monday, sitting in the mid-pack after two rounds. The Bison started strong and were tied for fourth after round one, but sit in 11
th overall headed to the final day.
Brock Winter leads the way for the Bison after 36 holes, sitting in a tie for 22
nd overall at +3. Winter opened the day with an even-par round of 71. Winter closed the day with a 74 in the second round, the best score for the Bison in the afternoon session. Winter finished with seven birdies on the day, including four in the first round.
Nate Adams led the way for NDSU early on, opening up with a -2 round of 69. However, Adams finished with a +6 round in the afternoon to sit at +4, one shot behind Winter in a tie for 29
th. Like Winter, Adams also had four birdies in the opening round. He finished the day with six.
Gavin Cronkhite sits third for the Bison in a tie for 49
th in the 96-golfer field. Cronkhite opened with a 74 and added a 75 in the second round to sit at +7. Cronkhite had five birdies overall, with three in the first round.
Nate Deziel and
Ian Simonich wrapped up the day for the Bison. Deziel's 75 in the second round capped the scoring rounds for the Bison as a team. Deziel shot 78 in the first round and sits in a tie for 75
th at +11. Deziel had four of his five birdies in the second round. Simonich capped the scoring in round one with a 76 and added a 78 in the second round. He sits in a tie for 82
nd at +12.
The Bison are set to wrap up the event on Tuesday with the third and final round at Chambers Bay. NDSU will tee off between holes 9-11 at 10 a.m. CT.
