LINCOLN, Neb. – The North Dakota State men's golf team moved up the leaderboard in the second round of the Summit League Championships on Monday at the Wilderness Ridge Country Club.
The Bison will head into the final day of the championships on Tuesday in fourth, sitting a +37. Denver, the defending champions, lead at +25, with Kansas City and Oral Roberts tied for second at +32.
Nate Adams and
Nate Deziel lead the way for the Bison, as the duo sit in a tie for fifth overall at +7. Adams had the best round of the day for NDSU, shooting a 73. After a +4 start through the first seven holes, Adams shot four birdies to climb up the leaderboard as he jumped six spots from day one.
Deziel moved up one spot after a 74 on day two. The defending individual champion had two early birdies and then added two more on his 12
th and 13
th holes to go along with seven pars. Deziel and Adams sit five shots of the lead, shared by Denver's Carson Griggs and Kansas City's Joshuaa Robards at +2.
Ian Simonich and
Brock Winter wrapped up the scoring for the Bison on day two, as the two shot rounds of 75. Simonich sits in a tie for 20
th overall at +11, while Winter is in a tie for 23
rd in the 50-golfer field, sitting at +12. Simonich stayed at 20
th, while Winter moved up six spots in the second round.
Gavin Cronkhite finished out the day for NDSU with a 79, moving up one spot into a tie for 47
th.
Simonich finished with a team best five birdies in the second round, including two on the final three holes to pull a couple shots back. Winter had two birdies in the second round, both coming on his back nine.
The Bison will wrap up the Summit League Championships on Tuesday, with the individual and team champion earning automatic bids to the NCAA Championships later this month. The Bison are set to begin teeing off on the first hole at 8:30 a.m.
