FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State's
Matt Kraft and
Trevor Otterdahl claimed event titles on the opening day of the Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.

Kraft posted a career-best performance to capture the Summit League javelin title, recording three throws over 70 meters including the winning mark of 233-8 (71.22m). With Kraft's title Thursday, the Bison men have now won 11 consecutive Summit League titles in the javelin.

NDSU senior
Trevor Otterdahl defended his league title in the hammer throw, winning with a mark of 225-1 (68.62m).

Benji Phillips took second in the javelin with a throw of 219-0 (66.76m) to give the Bison a 1-2 finish. NDSU's
Tristan Bush threw a career-best 204-0 (62.19m) to place third in the hammer, and
Levi Rockey took fourth at 195-2 (59.50m).

Zach Johnson finished fourth in the 10,000m in 31:47.22.

NDSU's
Zach McGlynn is the Day 1 leader in the Summit League decathlon, scoring 3,754 points through five events. He set a long jump personal-best of 23-0 (7.01m) for the top mark in the field, and also cleared a personal-best 6-9 (2.06m) in the high jump.
