Zach McGlynn has qualified to compete in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, it was announced Wednesday.

This year's NCAA Indoor Championships will be held March 13-14 in Fayetteville, Ark. The heptathlon will be contested over both days, starting at 11 a.m. CT next Friday and Saturday.

The NCAA Indoor Championships are limited to the top 16 performers in the country in each individual event. McGlynn will enter the meet ranked sixth in the NCAA this season for the heptathlon.

The Stephen, Minn., native shattered the NDSU record in the heptathlon on Jan. 30-31 this season, scoring 5,975 points. He broke the previous mark set by All-American Andy Lillejord at the 2013 NCAA Championships by 182 points.

This will be the first NCAA Indoor Championships appearance for the Bison men since Trevor Otterdahl took fifth in the weight throw in 2022 to earn first-team All-America honors.
