MANHATTAN, Kan. – The North Dakota State men's golf team wrapped up the Wildcat Invitational on Monday, climbing to fifth in the 15-team tournament hosted by Kansas State at Colbert Hills.
NDSU shot rounds of 288, 284, and a final round of 293 to move up two spots from day one, finishing at +1 with a total score of 865. Hosts Kansas State (284-273-290—847) finished the event first overall at -17 with a total score of 847. Southern Illinois (287-276-289—852) remained in second at -12. Grand Canyon (285-282-291—858) finished 11 strokes back at -6.
Nate Adams (69-71-76—216) and
Jack Johnson (72-74-70—216) finished in a tie for 16th place overall in the 54-hole event, finishing at even par. Adams had six birdies and an eagle in the event. Johnson carded a -2 round of 70 to finish even par to tie Adams.
Rylin Petry (74-71-75—220) and
Ian Simonich (73-75-72—220) both finished tied for 27th place. Petry carded a 75 in the final round, while Simonich shot a 72. The duo finished at +4.
Gavin Gronkhite (75-68-78—221) rounded out the group and finished one stroke back from Petry and Simonich, tied for 35th place overall at +5.
The Bison will be back in action on Sept. 25-26 at the Zach Johnson Invitational hosted by Drake University at Glen Oaks in West Des Moines, Iowa.
