Bison Travel to South Dakota State, UND this Week

The Games: The North Dakota State men's basketball team (9-12 overall, 2-4 Summit) will travel to Brookings, S.D., to play South Dakota State on Thursday, Feb. 1, before heading to Grand Forks for a game at North Dakota on Saturday, Feb. 3.
 
          Thursday, Feb. 1      at South Dakota State      7 p.m. CT
          Saturday, Feb. 3       at North Dakota               3:30 p.m. CT
 
Where to Watch: Both games will be broadcast on the Summit League Network through the Midco Sports Plus app.
 
Radio: Sam Neidermann will call both games on 107.9 The Fox. Broadcasts can also be streamed on the NDSU Athletics app, as well as at GoBison.com/AllAccess for free all season.
 
Against South Dakota State: Thursday will be the 235th meeting all-time between North Dakota State and South Dakota State, with the Bison leading the series 121-113. NDSU won two of the three clashes last season, including an 89-79 victory over SDSU in the semifinals of the Summit League Tournament.
          NDSU's last win in Brookings came on Dec. 28, 2016, when the Bison won 80-69 in the Summit League opener for the 2016-17 season.
 
Last Time vs. South Dakota State: The No. 3-seed Bison handled No. 2 seed SDSU in the semifinals of the Summit League Tournament on March 6, posting an emphatic 89-79 victory to advance to the championship game for the fifth straight season.
          Boden Skunberg scored 24 points to lead the Bison, and Grant Nelson added 20 points and set a single-game Summit League tournament record with 22 rebounds. NDSU freshman Damari Wheeler-Thomas finished with 17 points and seven assists.
          The Bison led for nearly 37 of the game's 40 minutes, going up by as many as 21 points in the second half. NDSU was ahead 42-39 with just under 19 minutes remaining when Skunberg and Wheeler-Thomas keyed a 16-4 run over the next eight minutes.
 
Against North Dakota: Saturday will be the 308th meeting between NDSU and UND, with UND leading the all-time series, 163-144.
          The Bison lead 16-6 over 22 meetings in the Division I era, and NDSU has won 10 of the past 12 games against the Fighting Hawks.
 
From Downtown: The Bison rank 20th in the nation for three-point shooting at 38.3 percent. NDSU has made 60-of-140 (43 percent) from downtown over the past seven games.
 
Over the Past Five Games
 
40th to Reach 1,000: With a three-pointer in the second half at St. Thomas on Jan. 25, Boden Skunberg became the 40th player in NDSU history to reach 1,000 career points.
 
Big Man Buckets: Noah Feddersen scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Bison at St. Thomas on Jan. 25, making 7-of-8 shots in the game and adding a career-high four assists.
 
Bonus Basketball: NDSU's four overtime games this season are its most since also playing four overtime games in 2009-10. The Bison had six overtime games in the 2002-03 season.
 
Half Dozen Scorers: Six different Bison -- Damari Wheeler-Thomas, Lance Waddles, Boden Skunberg, Andrew Morgan, Tajavis Miller, and Noah Feddersen -- have scored 20 or more points in a game this season.
 
Top of the Summit: North Dakota State and South Dakota State are the only Summit League schools to finish among the top three in the league standings every year over the past five seasons.
          In seven of David Richman's nine seasons at NDSU, the Bison have finished in a tie for third place or better in The Summit League.
