NDSU Volleyball Falls Short Against Oral Roberts in Five Sets

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team fell short in five sets against Oral Roberts, 3-2, on Saturday night at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
Lauren Jansen paced the Bison (6-6, 2-1 Summit) logging her second double-double in the last three matches with a match-high 18 kills and 12 digs. Ali Hinze added in 13 kills with nine digs and Logan O'Brien contributed a match-best 22 digs. Maddy Dombeck rounded out the top performers with a match-high 21 assists.
After Oral Roberts (3-14, 1-3 Summit) grabbed a 2-1 lead to begin the match, NDSU battled back in the fourth set quickly opening up an 11-5 advantage following a kill from Jansen. The Bison then used a 5-1 run to push its lead to 21-11 with a block from Hinze and Ally Barth. NDSU went on to win the set, 25-13.
The two teams continued to trade points in the fifth set that saw three lead changes. NDSU took advantage of attack errors to lock the frame, 8-8, at the midway point. The Golden Eagles then stole momentum with a 5-1 run to grab a 13-9 advantage. Oral Roberts held off NDSU the rest of the way to win the frame, 15-11, and the match, 3-2.
NDSU will be back in action at Kansas City on Thursday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
