SEATTLE – The North Dakota State women's basketball team dropped a 64-51 decision at Washington on Wednesday afternoon.
Abbie Draper posted her first double-double of the season with a team-high 13 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to go along with a game-high four steals. Avery Koenen narrowly missed a double-double of her own with a game-best 12 rebounds and eight points, while Abby Krzewinski and Abby Graham both contributed nine points each.
As a team, the Bison (6-5) shot 33.3 percent (20-60) from the field and 81.8 percent (9-11) from the free throw line. NDSU scored 34 points in the paint and the bench totaled 19 points. The Bison also grabbed 38 rebounds in comparison to the Huskies' 33.
Washington (8-4, 0-1 B1G) shot over 50 percent from the field in the first half to help build a 34-15 lead at the intermission. It marked only the second time the Bison trailed at the break through the first 11 games this season. NDSU fought its way back in the second half trimming the deficit back down to 10 points with a jumper from Koenen followed up by a triple from Graham to make the score 51-41 with 6:44 to play. However, the Bison couldn't cut the deficit down any further and went on to drop the contest, 64-51.
NDSU will wrap up play at the Husky Classic tomorrow afternoon against Boise State. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. CT at Alaska Airlines Arena.
