NDSU Women’s Basketball Holds Off Montana, 83-74

FARGO, N.D. – Four Bison posted double figures in scoring as the North Dakota State women's basketball team topped Montana, 83-74, in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge on Wednesday night at Scheels Center.
Marisa Frost paced the Bison (5-3) with a career-high 27 points, including 19 points in the second half. The Lino Lakes, Minn., native shot 7-of-8 from the field, 3-of-3 from three and 10-of-12 from the free throw line to go along with three assists and three steals. Abbie Draper also added in 17 points with six rebounds, while Avery Koenen posted 13 points with a team-best seven rebounds. Abby Krzewinski closed out the group with 10 points, two rebounds and two steals.
As a team, the Bison shot 50.0 percent (26-52) from the field and 72.2 percent (26-36) from the free throw line. NDSU tied a season-high 40 points in the paint and the bench contributed 36 points with nine different players in the scoring column.
After the Bison led by as many as 22 points in the first half, Montana (4-4) slowly pulled its way back trimming the edge down to single digits, 68-60, with a layup from MJ Bruno with 6:46 to play. Frost answered for NDSU connecting on a layup in traffic and a free throw to push the lead up to 76-66 with 4:05 remaining. Frost went on to drain seven free throws over the final 1:05 to help NDSU secure the 83-74 victory.
NDSU will be back in action at Eastern Washington in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. CT
