COLLEGE STATION, Texas – North Dakota State softball fell to Southeastern Louisiana and No. 18 Texas A&M in the opening two games of the Texas A&M Invitational on Friday at Davis Diamond. The Bison fell to Southeastern Louisiana 5-1 and then fell to the host Aggies 10-0 in five innings.
In game one, the Bison took the lead in the top of the first, as
Bella Dean hit a double to left center, scoring
Taylinn Warren from second. However, it would be the only run of the day for NDSU.
In the bottom of the first, the Lions answered back capitalizing on an error and scoring three runs in the inning. The Lions would then score another run on an error in the second inning, before adding a home run in the fifth for the game's final run.
Warren finished with two of NDSU's three hits in the game.
Savy Williams picked up the loss, allowing five runs, three earned, in four innings. She finished with three strikeouts.
Madison Wihlm tossed the final two innings, allowing just one hit with one strikeout.
In game two, host Texas A&M took the lead in second with an RBI double. The Bison would trail by one run until the fourth inning, when the Aggies hit a three-run home run to start a 9-run inning.
The Bison would be held to three hits, with
Chloe Woldruff,
Anjolee Aguilar-Beaucage and
Rylee Henderson recording them for NDSU. Woldruff had the only extra base hit with a double. Wihlm tossed two innings, giving up just the one run on two hits in the loss.
The Bison will return to action on Saturday with two more games at the Texas A&M Invitational. The Bison open up with Kansas at 2 p.m., before taking on Texas A&M again at 7 p.m.
