MORAGA, Calif. – North Dakota State softball fell in a pair of games on Saturday at the Saint Mary's Tournament, falling to Marist 8-3 before dropping a 1-0 loss in a walk off to host Saint Mary's.
Marist had six runs in the first two innings.
Ava Chavarria would hit her first career home run in the third. The Bison added two more runs on RBI singles from
Zoe King and
Rylee Henderson in the fourth, but Marist added two in the fifth on a Bison error to seal the victory.
Eight different Bison recorded the eight hits in the game for NDSU.
Bella Dean and
Jasmyn Yessian had doubles to join Chavarria with extra-base hits.
Kaitlyn Dunford had the loss in the start, allowing four runs.
In the second game,
Addie Bowers pitched a gem, allowing just two hits and a walk until the seventh inning. However, the Gaels would get a lead off hit and the runner would score on a two-out single to right to win the game. The Bison had six hits in the game, led by two from
Taylinn Warren.
The Bison will be back in action on Saturday with two more games, taking on Marist and Saint Mary's again. First pitch is set for noon CT with the second game immediately following.
