NDSU Softball Falls in Doubleheader at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – North Dakota State softball dropped both games of a doubleheader at Omaha on Friday to start Summit League play, falling 11-3 and 2-1 at Connie Claussen Field.

The Bison took the lead in the first game, as Chloe Woldruff hit her first career home run to put the Bison up 2-0 in the second inning. However, Omaha would respond with two in the bottom of the second before taking a 4-2 lead in the third. The Mavericks grew the lead to 9-2 before Reanna Rudd hit an RBI single in the fifth, but Omaha added two more runs in the bottom half to end the game.

In game two, Omaha took the lead in the third inning on a sacrifice fly and extended the lead to 2-0 in the sixth inning. Woldruff would drive in a run with an RBI single in the seventh, but the Bison would strand two runners in scoring position as Omaha stopped NDSU's rally with three-straight strikeouts with runners on second and third.

Anjolee Aguilar-Beaucage and Rylee Henderson joined Chloe Woldruff with a hit in each game. All three scored the Bison runs in game one and Aguilar-Beaucage scored NDSU's run in game two. Savy Williams picked up the loss in game one, allowing six runs in 3.1 innings. Addie Bowers picked up the loss in game two, allowing two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts.

The Bison and Mavericks will close the series on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
