OMAHA, Neb. – North Dakota State softball fell to a late surge from Omaha in Summit League play, falling 7-0 in the series finale at Connie Claussen field.
The Bison and Mavericks played a scoreless first four innings Sunday afternoon as snow flurries fell throughout the entirety of the game. NDSU would outhit Omaha into the fifth inning, 3-2, but the hosts would have a late offensive surge, scoring seven unanswered.
NDSU stranded two runners in the second, one in the third and one in the fifth, before Omaha broke the tie in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of RBI hits. Omaha would then capitalize on a Bison error to score five runs in the sixth.
Four Bison had hits in the game, including a double form
Anjolee Aguilar-Beaucage and a pinch-hit single from
Macy Fry.
Addie Bowers pitched a scoreless first four innings before allowing seven runs, including three unearned. She recorded two strikeouts in the loss.
The Bison are scheduled to play their home opener next week, with St. Thomas scheduled to make the trip to Fargo and Tharaldson Park for a noon doubleheader on Friday, March 29 and an 11 a.m. series finale on Saturday, March 30.
