NDSU Volleyball Edges Kansas City, 3-2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After falling behind in the match, 2-1, the North Dakota State volleyball team battled back to pick up a 3-2 win on the road over Kansas City on Thursday night at Swinney Center.
Lauren Jansen recorded a match-high and season-best 19 kills to go along with 12 digs and a .278 hitting percentage. Baily Randall filled up her stat line with a season-high 14 kills, eight digs, five service aces, three blocks and two assists.
Emily Bruss posted her first career double-double with a season-high 20 assists and career-best 11 digs, while Rya Borer also tallied her first career double-double with a season-best 24 digs and 10 assists. As a team, the Bison (8-4, 2-0 Summit) posted season-highs in kills (63), assists (58), digs (83) and total blocks (13).
After Kansas City (1-15, 0-3 Summit) jumped out a 2-1 lead in the match and neither team hit above .200 in the first three sets, NDSU assembled a 7-1 run in the fourth frame to open up a 17-11 advantage with a kill from Bruss. The two teams then exchanged points until Jansen pushed the lead to 23-17 with a kill. NDSU went on to win the frame, 25-18.
The Bison carried the momentum into the fifth set sprinting out to a 7-2 lead with another kill from Jansen. NDSU, who posted a match-best .444 hitting percentage in the frame, doubled up Kansas City, 10-5, with a kill from Randall. The Bison went on to secure the set, 15-6, and the match, 3-2.
NDSU will continue its road swing at Omaha on Saturday. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
