NDSU Volleyball Sweeps Oral Roberts on the Road, 3-0

TULSA, Okla. – Zoe John posted a match-high 11 kills to help guide the North Dakota State volleyball team to a 3-0 win at Oral Roberts on Saturday afternoon at Mabee Center.
John contributed a match-best 11 kills on 18 attempts for a .444 hitting percentage. Cathy Porter handed out a team-best 22 assists with eight digs, while Rya Borer added a match-best 12 digs. Ally Barth totaled a match-best and season-high seven total blocks with six kills.
Both teams traded points in the first set that saw seven ties and four lead changes until the Golden Eagles (2-22, 0-12 Summit) used a 6-1 run to open up a 19-15 edge with a kill from Hayden Hart. The Bison (13-8, 7-4 Summit) responded with an 8-1 run of their own to steal the lead, 23-20, following a kill from Barth. The two teams then once again exchanged points until the Bison picked up three straight points capped off by another kill from Barth to win the set, 26-24.
The Bison quickly doubled up the Golden Eagles in the second set, 10-5, with a kill from John. NDSU then pushed its lead into double digits with three straight points to make the score 20-10 with a block from Lauren Jansen and John. The Bison went on to hold off the Golden Eagles the rest of the way to win the frame, 25-19.
NDSU started to pull away in the third frame with a momentum-shifting 7-1 run capped off by back-to-back kills from Barth. The Bison then stretched their lead to 21-12 with three straight points after two attack errors and a kill from Jansen. NDSU went on to close out the set, 25-16, and the match, 3-0.
The Bison will be back in action hosting South Dakota State on Thursday. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m., at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
