NDSU Women’s Basketball Tops Concordia-Moorhead, 84-60

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team scored 29 points in the second quarter to help pick up an 84-60 win over Concordia-Moorhead on Monday afternoon inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex in front of 2,928 fans for the second annual Field Trip Day game.
With the win, the Bison improved to 2-1 overall on the season. It also marked the 100th career win for head coach Jory Collins at NDSU. It's the most wins in the NDSU Division I era and second-most in Bison history behind Amy Ruley (671 wins).
Avery Koenen netted 16 points with three steals and two rebounds, while Karrington Asp also contributed 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field with five rebounds. Jocelyn Schiller added in 12 points with five assists and Molly Lenz also reached double digits with 11 points. Marisa Frost closed out the top performers with nine points and a career-best seven assists.
As a team, the Bison shot 49.3 percent (33-67) from the field and 83.3 percent (10-12) from the free throw line. NDSU also netted 50 points in the paint and the bench poured in 29 points with 11 different players in the scoring column.
After opening up a 22-17 lead after one quarter, NDSU erupted in the second outscoring the Cobbers, 29-8, in the frame. The Bison used a 12-0 run to increase their edge to 36-20 following a triple from Abby Krzewinski at the 6:39 mark. NDSU continued to push the pace increasing its lead to 20, 43-23, after Asp delivered a layup with 1:59 to play in the half. Concordia-Moorhead wasn't able to cut the edge down any further over the final two quarters as NDSU picked up an 84-60 win.
The Bison will be back in action against Nebraska on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 12:00 p.m., at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
