Carson Leads Bison to 99-94 Win at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota State men's basketball team drained 19 three-pointers to beat Drake, 99-94, on Saturday afternoon inside the Knapp Center. The Bison have now won nine of their last 10 games.
 
West Des Moines, Iowa, native Trevian Carson led the Bison with a career-high 29 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Sophomore Andy Stefonowicz added a career-high 22 points for NDSU, hitting 6-of-7 from beyond the arc.
 
NDSU improved to 9-3 on the season and 2-0 against Missouri Valley Conference opponents after also knocking off Southern Illinois in November.
 
NDSU shot 61 percent in the first half and made 11 three-pointers to build a 55-41 lead at the break. The Bison drilled eight more treys in the second half, finishing 19-of-33 (58 percent) from beyond the arc. It was the second-most threes made in school history, trailing only the 20 NDSU made at Samford last season.
 
NDSU sophomore forward Treyson Anderson scored a career-high 15 points, including four three-pointers. Damari Wheeler-Thomas had 14 points and a career-best nine assists.
 
NDSU led 15-13 before a 14-4 run gave the Bison control of the contest. Anderson knocked down two of his three-pointers to key the run.
 
The Bison led for more than 37 minutes, going ahead by as much as 18 at 80-62 in the second half. NDSU committed only five turnovers in the game and forced 13 by the Bulldogs.
 
The Bison will return home to host Minnesota Crookston on Monday at 7 p.m. inside the Scheels Center.
