FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team won for the 10th time in 11 games on Monday night, defeating Minnesota Crookston 101-67 in the final home non-conference game before Summit League play.
NDSU improved to 10-3 on the season – the program's best start since the Bison went 16-3 to open the 2012-13 campaign.
Markhi Strickland scored 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting to lead NDSU.
Damari Wheeler-Thomas added 14 points, and
Andy Stefonowicz and
Noah Feddersen both scored 10. Feddersen paced the Bison on the glass with six boards.
Tay Smith recorded six steals as the Bison racked up 16 as a team.
Nine Bison players scored at least seven points in the contest. NDSU shot 53 percent for the game and made 9-of-23 (39 percent) from beyond the arc.
NDSU's lone loss in the last 40 days was an 85-80 overtime defeat at Arkansas State on Nov. 28.
The Bison will travel to El Paso, Texas, to play in the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational on Dec. 21-22. NDSU plays UC Irvine on Sunday, Dec. 21, then either Norfolk State or UTEP on Monday, Dec. 22.
