NDSU Women’s Basketball Upends Montana State, 90-65

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team upended Montana State, 90-65, in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge on Wednesday night inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.
With the win, the Bison extended their season-best four-game win streak and improved to 6-2 overall on the season. Montana State, who entered the week ranked No. 7 in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, drops to 5-2 overall.
Karrington Asp led the Bison posting her first career double-double with a season-high 18 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Avery Koenen added her fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Marisa Frost (15), Abby Krzewinski (13), Molly Lenz (12) and Jocelyn Schiller (10) also all reached double digits in scoring.
As a team, the Bison shot 55.8 percent (29-52) from the field and 75.0 percent (21-28) from the free throw line. NDSU buried a season-best 11 three-pointers on 18 attempts with five different players netting at least one.
After opening up a 24-19 lead after the first quarter, the Bison extended their edge into double figures in the second quarter with nine unanswered points to make the score 41-26 with a layup from Schiller at the 3:35 mark. The Bison then stole momentum with a quick start to the third quarter after assembling seven straight points to stretch their lead to 56-40 after Lenz connected on a triple at the 8:21 mark. NDSU, who never trailed in the contest, went on to pick up the 90-65 victory.
The Bison will be back in action at Weber State on Saturday in the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. CT
