Arkansas Tops NDSU Volleyball at Razorback Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The North Dakota State volleyball team fell short at Arkansas, 3-0, on Friday night at the Razorback Invitational at Barnhill Arena.
Ally Barth led the way for NDSU (6-3) after tying a season-high seven kills with a .417 hitting percentage. Arianna Blohm also notched seven kills with a team-best three blocks. Maddy Dombeck handed out 10 assists and Rya Borer totaled eight digs.
The Razorbacks (4-6) started fast opening up a 12-5 advantage with a kill from Romani Thurman in the opening set. Arkansas, who posted a .381 hitting percentage in the frame, used six straight points to extend its lead to 21-8 with a kill from Lakin Laurendine. The Razorbacks went on to win the set, 25-10.
The two teams traded points to begin the second frame to find themselves locked, 10-10, after Emily Bruss connected on a kill for the Bison. The Razorbacks responded with five straight points of their own to steal a 15-10 lead with another kill from Laurendine. Arkansas held off NDSU the rest of the way to win the frame, 25-16.
The Razorbacks once again used a quick start in the third set opening up a 16-7 advantage at the midway point following a 7-1 run. The Bison made one final surge with a 3-0 run of their own capped off by a block from Blohm and Bruss to cut the edge to 20-15. Arkansas went on to close out the set, 25-18, and the match, 3-0.
NDSU will wrap up play at the Razorback Invitational tomorrow against Southern Illinois. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
