FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State soccer switches gears to Summit League play and opens up the league season on Thursday, September 25, against Omaha. The Bison and Mavericks are set for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Dacotah Field.

Series History
North Dakota State and Omaha will meet for the 21st time in series history on Thursday. NDSU holds a 10-7-3 lead in the series dating back to 1999. In the last four years, UNO won 4-0 and 2-1 before ties of 2-2 and 1-1 in the most recent meetings. NDSU is 8-3-1 all-time against the Mavericks in Fargo.

Last Time Against Omaha
NDSU and Omaha played out a 1-1 tie at Caniglia Field in the Summit League opener.

The Bison took the lead in the 12th minute as
Morgan Russmann scored her fourth goal of the season, scoring on a right-footed shot off the left post, following a long through ball from
Amaya Garrett.

NDSU nearly doubled the lead in the 82nd minute, as
Devon Kavanagh had a shot cleared off the line. The play would be reviewed by VAR but stood as called.

Payton Mulberry made four saves, including a late tip over the bar to keep the Bison in front heading into the 90th minute.

However, the hosts would finally get their breakthrough as the Mavericks scored on a goal from Alyssa Kellar with 32 seconds remaining. VAR would be called on again for offsides, but the play stood.

Sidney Armstrong had played in 19 career games, including 13 last season, before missing the first eight games to injury this year. After making her first appearance at Florida Atlantic, Armstrong made her first career start at Washington State

Russmann Moves Into NDSU Top 10
Morgan Russmann recorded her first brace of the season against Clarke, scoring a pair of goals to move into the top 10 in NDSU's Division I history. The Bettendorf, Iowa native now has 14 career goals and sits tied with Brooklyn Dyce (2009-12) at No. 10.

Stipp Joins Rare Company
Hannah Stipp recorded three-straight cleansheet victories earlier this season, becoming the fifth different Bison to do so in the program's Division I history. Stipp is the first Bison shot stopper to record three-straight cleansheet wins, which matches the program record, since Monica Polgar did it for a second time in 2017.

Polgar also matched the record in 2016. Sierra Bonham (2015), Monica Morgan (2006) and Karli Kopietz (2005) are the other three Bison goalkeepers to record three-straight cleansheet victories.

Home Sweet Home
The Bison were 6-1-2 at Dacotah Field last season, including a perfect 4-0-0 in Summit League play. NDSU outscored the opposition 19-8 at home, including four cleansheets.

The .778 win percentage was the Best for NDSU at home since also going .778 in 2017. The 2024 home campaign is the second best overall at Dacotah Field, only behind a 6-1-0 (.857) season in 2015.

The Bison are undefeated at home in league play in the last two seasons, going 5-0-3 in eight games. Overall, NDSU is 13-4-6 at home since the beginning of the 2023 season.

Seven new Bison have contributed to at least one goal this season with 14 total Bison involved in goals via scoring or assisting, already surpassing last season, which had 13 different Bison contribute in goal involvements.

Ellie Sanchez and
Devon Kavanagh picked up their first assists of the season against Clarke, growing the list to 14.

During the first homestand of the season,
Chloe Birch and
Cora Still scored their first career goals. Freshman
Geni LaMarche also recorded her first goal involvement with an assist on Birch's goal.
Maeva Lichtensteiger was also involved in her first goal as a Bison, recording a pair of assists over two games.
