ST. PAUL, Minn. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team held off St. Thomas, 75-66, for its 15th straight win on Wednesday night at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena.

With the win, the Bison improve to 17-2 (6-0 Summit) overall on the season, including an 8-0 mark on the road. It marks the best start to a road schedule since the 1996-97 season. St. Thomas drops to 9-11 (2-4 Summit) with the loss.

Avery Koenen posted her sixth straight and 14th double-double of the season with a team-best 18 points and game-high 14 rebounds. Marisa Frost tallied 13 points with five assists, while Jocelyn Schiller contributed 12 points with a season-best seven assists.

As a team, the Bison tied a season-best 26 free throws on 31 attempts with Koenen shooting 8-of-10 from the line. NDSU also shot 42.3 percent (22-52) from the field with eight different players reaching the scoring column.

The Bison got off to a fast start opening up a double-digit lead, 17-4, after Karrington Asp delivered a jumper at the 4:44 mark of the first quarter. NDSU then started the second frame with seven straight points to grow its largest lead of the night, 33-15, after Frost netted a free throw with 6:19 to play in the half. The Bison led at the break, 39-26.

St. Thomas pushed back in the third quarter trimming the deficit down to single digits with a 10-0 run capped off by a layup from Alyssa Sand at the 2:30 mark. NDSU, who never trailed in the contest, used a late 9-3 run in the fourth quarter to increase its lead to 65-52 with a jumper from Koenen with 5:37 to play. The Bison went on to hold off the Tommies the rest of the way for the 75-66 road win.

NDSU will be back in action hosting South Dakota on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m., inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.
