Bison Play at South Dakota Saturday

The Game: The North Dakota State men's basketball team (18-5, 8-0 Summit) will travel to Vermillion, S.D., to play the South Dakota Coyotes on Saturday.

Where to Watch: The game will be streamed on the Summit League Network via the Midco Sports Plus app.
 
Radio: Sam Neidermann will call the game on 107.9 The Fox and Bison 1660. Broadcasts can also be streamed on the NDSU Athletics app, as well as at GoBison.com/AllAccess for free.
 
Against South Dakota: Saturday will be the 195th meeting all-time between NDSU and South Dakota, with the Bison leading the series 108-86. In the Division I era, NDSU owns a 23-10 record against the Coyotes.
 
Last Time vs. South Dakota: The Bison won 84-61 over South Dakota on Dec. 31 in Fargo, using a 31-4 run to put away the Coyotes. NDSU trailed 30-28 with 2:30 left in the first half before scoring the final 10 points of the half. The Bison opened the second half on a 21-4 run to go ahead 59-34 with just over 13 minutes remaining.
 
History: The Bison are 8-0 in The Summit League for the first time in school history.
 
Road Dubs: NDSU owns seven road wins this season, which is tied for the fourth-most in the nation. Only Belmont, Miami (Ohio), and Stephen F. Austin have more.
 
Win Streak: NDSU's current eight-game win streak is tied for the eighth-longest active streak in the country.
 
Four-Headed Monster: Entering this week, NDSU's top three scorers are all averaging between 13 and 14 points per game -- Damari Wheeler-Thomas (13.7 ppg), Trevian Carson (13.5 ppg), and Markhi Strickland (13.0 ppg). In league play, Treyson Anderson leads the Bison with 15.6 ppg.
 
Nationally Ranked: Markhi Strickland is ranked 15th in the nation for field goal percentage (63.0%). Trevian Carson is 23rd in the country in steals per game (2.30).
 
Significant Margin: NDSU is No. 20 in the NCAA for turnover margin at +4.0 per game.
 
On the Mark: Markhi Strickland is shooting 63 percent from the field. His 131 made field goals are the fifth-most among all D-I players shooting better than 60 percent this season.
  
Defend Without Fouling: The Bison are 21st in Division I for fewest fouls committed per game, with an average of 14.9.
 
Rise in Theft: NDSU ranks 34th nationally for steals per game this year after ranking 352nd last season. The Bison surpassed last season's steals total in just 13 games this year.
 
Good Company: Trevian Carson is on track to join Grant Nelson (2022-23), Tyson Ward (2018-19), and Dexter Werner (2016-17) as the only Bison in the past decade to lead the team in rebounds and steals.
 
Over the Last Five Games …
 
On the Glass: NDSU is averaging 12.1 offensive rebounds per game -- the most by the Bison since the 2006-07 season.
 
Two at a Time: Markhi Strickland is averaging 13-plus points per game without attempting a single three-pointer this season. Marshall Bjorklund (2013-14) was the last Bison to average double digits without shooting a three all season. Bjorklund still ranks 16th in NCAA Division I history with a career 65.3% field goal percentage.
 
Eight From the Arc: At Oral Roberts on Jan. 24, Tay Smith became the third Bison in school history to make at least eight three-pointers in a game. Smith went 8-for-10 from downtown, matching Lawrence Alexander's eight threes vs. South Dakota in 2015 and coming up one short of Jared Samuelson's school record of nine treys vs. Mayville State in 2018.
 
Protect Home Court: NDSU has won 13 straight home games, which is tied for the 18th-longest active streak in the nation.
