NDSU Women’s Basketball Cruises Past Denver for 11th Straight Win

DENVER – The North Dakota State women's basketball team cruised past Denver, 81-44, on Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Gymnasium.
With the win, NDSU improves to 13-2 (2-0 Summit) on the season, including a 6-0 mark on the road. The Bison also extended their win streak to 11 games. Denver drops to 7-8 (1-1 Summit) with the loss.
Avery Koenen recorded her 10th double-double of the season with a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-11 shooting from the field. Jocelyn Schiller tied a season-high 15 points with four assists and two steals. Marisa Frost and Karrington Asp both added 10 points each to round out the top performers.
As a team, the Bison shot 55.9 percent (33-59) from the field and 84.6 percent (11-13) from the free throw line with 10 different players reaching the scoring column. NDSU scored 46 points in the paint and 23 points off of turnovers.
NDSU used a fast start running out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter after Schiller delivered a fastbreak layup at the 4:42 mark. The Bison then pushed their lead to 28-10 in the second frame after seven straight points capped off by a Schiller free throw with 6:30 to play in the half. NDSU, who never trailed in the contest, closed out Denver in the second half to secure the 81-44 victory.
NDSU will be back in action hosting Kansas City on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m., inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.
