NDSU Women’s Basketball Overwhelms Kansas City, 77-54

FARGO, N.D. – Avery Koenen posted her 11th double-double of the season to help lift the North Dakota State women's basketball team past Kansas City, 77-54, on Thursday night inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.

With the win, the Bison improve to 14-2 (3-0 Summit) and extended their win streak to 12 games. Kansas City drops to 4-12 (1-2 Summit) with the loss.

Koenen led the way tying a career-best 16 rebounds with 17 points. The Montevideo, Minn., native narrowly missed a triple-double with a career-high six assists and two blocks and one steal. Jocelyn Schiller netted season-high 19 points on 9-of-9 shooting from the free throw line, while Abby Krzewinski also reached double digits with 10 points and three assists.

As a team, NDSU shot 45.6 percent (26-57) from the field and 80.8 percent (21-26) from the free throw line. The Bison also grabbed 39 rebounds in comparison to the Roos' 35.

After the Roos opened up an early 11-4 advantage by the 5:43 mark in the first quarter, the Bison responded with nine straight points to steal the lead, 13-11, with a jumper from Karrington Asp at the 3:55 mark. NDSU then used the momentum to close the first half with 10 unanswered points, including four points from both Schiller and Koenen to build a 44-29 lead at the half. The Bison, who never trailed in the second half, went on to pick up the 77-54 victory.

NDSU will continue its homestand hosting Omaha on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
