NDSU Women’s Basketball Holds Off St. Thomas, 73-67

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team held off St. Thomas, 73-67, on Thursday night inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.
With the victory, the Bison improved to 24-2 (13-0 Summit) and extended their win streak to 22 games, which the second-longest active win streak in the country behind UConn (44). St. Thomas drops to 13-14 (6-7 Summit) on the season.
Frost led the way for the Bison with 18 points on 8-of-8 shooting from the free throw line. Avery Koenen added in 16 points with seven rebounds, while Abby Krzewinski with 14 points and tied a season-best eight rebounds.
As a team, NDSU shot 50.0 percent (26-52) from the field and 77.3 percent (17-22) from the free throw line. The Bison also hauled in 32 rebounds in comparison to the Tommies' 26.
In a game that neither team led by more than nine points, St. Thomas pulled within one, 60-59, with 3:21 to play after Faith Feuerbach connected on a layup. The Bison used a quick 4-0 run to open up a 64-59 advantage after Marisa Frost drained two free throws and Abby Krzewinski netted a layup with 2:21 to go. NDSU was then able to close out the contest from the free throw line as Jocelyn Schiller and Frost combined to go 8-of-8 from the line over the final 44 seconds. Frost drained all six of her attempts over the stretch to seal the 73-67 win.
NDSU will be back in action at South Dakota on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
